Patriot Financial Partners L.P. is a private equity investment fund with a focus on investments in the community banking sector throughout the United States, with a secondary focus on financial services firms closely related to the banking sector. The objective of the Fund is to provide a superior risk-adjusted return by applying a hands-on, value-added investment model to both control and non-control investments.

The Fund will focus on investments in community banks to exploit a large, yet inefficient and underserved market with attractive investment attributes. The Patriot team believes the community banking sector suffers from a shortage of institutional capital due in large part to a lack of specialized investment expertise to navigate the sector’s complex regulatory environment. The Partners have strong bank operating experience, regulatory knowledge and relationships which may facilitate the transaction approval process with regulators.

When required, the Fund expects to become a Bank Holding Company (“BHC”) in order to be able to make control investments. Some private equity firms have been reluctant to organize as BHC’s, with the attendant regulatory requirements and, therefore, have not been able to become active, control-oriented investors. This reluctance to become a BHC establishes a significant barrier to entry for competitors.
